Shifting out of my week of juicing felt easy here in Bali. I stuck to light and veggie heavy, and really didn’t feel like I skipped a beat. I’m still trying to find the best rhythm for eating out more often than cooking at home though. I think it’s definitely one of the hardest things about being on the road all the time. The other would be finding decent and consistent internet… but I digress.
Jon and I have a small kitchenette here in the apartment we are living in, but it’s very sparsely equipped and I’m not feeling it. This frustrates me a bit, because after a week of juicing and not having to go out to eat for every meal, I was longing for some good home cooking. The other thing that is both interesting and likely not a thing at all, but something that gives me pause is that Jon and I are never eating the same thing. We eat together most of the time, but never the same meal.
Is this a thing? Does it take away from our shared dining experience? Something to sit with and explore with him a bit.
It’s still an experiment that will continue to unfold as I create a system for us. And to that end, next week, I’ve signed up for a home meal delivery program. The company, a small business owned by a woman, will cook me 2 gluten free vegetarian meals each day for what comes to roughly $56 a week. Yes… $56 for 2 full and balanced meals each day. I’m excited to see what comes of this.
