I’ve been back on the mainland, all over California, for the last month. My reasons for coming here were about the launch of this book that I did the photography for, and am co creating the online magazine for. (so much more on this later!)
As you know though, I’m from California, and have missed my sisterhood (+ the one brother from another mother) posse intensely. More than anything, I’ve savored the reconnect time, as it’s felt like nourishment to the soul.
Jon and I have created awesome community for ourselves in Maui. We are constantly feeling the enormity of our gratitude when we look at how amazing our friends in Maui are. History and time shared during the ups and downs of life, however, make my California posse familia, and I hadn’t realized how much juice I get from just being with them.
As you can imagine, dinner, lunch and breakfast dates abounded for me in the last month. What has struck me most, is the ability to sit down and immediately dive into the heart of things without skipping a beat, or even feeling the impact of time apart. I LOVE that, and appreciate it in ways I can’t even begin to describe.
With this group, good food is always a given, so meeting at a few key favorites for a meal is never a hard thing to decide on. It also speaks to this theory we all know and feel in our hearts, but don’t always give words to: Good vibrant and artfully made food, shared with people you love and dance well with you in that natural exchange of soul bits, makes for a healing and life enhancing experience every. single. time.
The formula for a good meal date out?
1. Pick a person or person you love and can dive deep into the heart of things with (whether it’s the hardships of life, or the comedy of it and everything in between).
2. Find a restaurant that loves what it does, makes good food, preferably locally sourced and organic.
3. Get together and enjoy the intake of food, of pleasure, of laughter and soul meeting.
That’s all. What you get, if you’re lucky is a few awesome and memorable hours that leave you heart, soul and belly warm and happy.
Thank you, family… I love you each HUGE and can’t wait to do it all again:

Hahahahahahaha!!! Seriously considering having that little drawing added to my tattoo collection of one! I'm actually thinking this can be the beginning of a new life philosophy, ya feel me? 🙂 I miss you already and only wish we had had more meals together. Until next time… which… may be sooner than expected. 😛
