Food practice is a spiritual portal that deepens your life experience through the lens of food. It is about nourishment, pleasure, those essential pauses in your day which bring ou back to the heart beat basics of our lives.
Food Practice is the manner in which we actively and wholly engage with all aspects of food, eating and the gathering that takes place around a table. It is an approach that is spiritual and free of denomination or religion. It is simply the honoring of bounty we acquire to feed ourselves, how we prepare this bounty and how we share it with others. It acknowledges that presence and intention are essential to the process, and being mindful of the choices we make around food, guides us along a richer path in life.
At it’s simplest, this is about people together, breaking bread, connecting with each other, with food, and how we take in the nourishment of our bodies, hearts and souls.
This website was created to share these ideas and the food – good food, cooking food, going out and finding food, celebrating food, exploring the healing and nourishment that food provides as well as current food news and events. Recipes shared here will be in large part created by me. It’s important to note that although I do not generally cook via exact measurements, I am making greater efforts to post them here so that you may recreate them.
All dishes made and shared here are gluten free.
what a lovely design, you have a great site!
Sara, thank you! Coming from you, thats such a compliment. 🙂
Lovely and very inspirational! I absolutely love all your pictures!! What will I give to get a DSLR 🙂 Thanks for befriending me :):)
Melinda,
I have to say that a DSLR is an awesome tool to have, but they do say that the best camera is the one in your hand. So work whatever you have girl! I think its really a matter of practice and developing your own ‘eye’ for things!
Thanks for stopping by, looking forward to getting to know you. 🙂

Passerò a trovarti ancora. Ti auguro un buon week end, a presto.

Hi Elena,
Beautiful blog and pictures. I love how you mentioned mindful eating, I feel like everyone should take the time to fully experience their food and take the time to enjoy, no rush.
🙂

I agree Tram. Eating mindfully isn't just about our health but its about our quality of life as a whole. Life is too short to not savor the amazing variety of flavors out there!

Hi Elena,
We received a request from Urbanspoon user "Food Practice" claiming that they are the author of Food Practice. It sounds like you, but I'm writing to verify that this is the case and that you want to allow "Food Practice" to manage your blog on Urbanspoon.
You can visit the Urbanspoon page for Food Practice here: http://www.urbanspoon.com/br/37/3828/Hawaii/Food-…
Please reply and let me know whether or not we should approve this claim.
Thanks!

Nice to "meet" you, Elena! I see you've written about Viento y Agua and Lola's so I'm guessing you are a Long Beach resident like me 🙂
Bella, I used to be, but for the last three years, I've been living in Idyllwild. But I never stopped loving all thing Long Beach *sighs* Whenever I go down into LA county I make a stop at Viento and Lola's and a very stalkerish drive by my old and lovely apartment.
Wow, such a clean, fresh aesthetic. Great job. Wonderful photography.
Aloha Elena,
I love what you're doing here on your blog. Beautiful photos and aesthetics… 🙂 Is there a way to contact you directly?
X
