I’m tired. Not only am I carrying the plague (aka cold) that I borrowed from Spenser a day before leaving Pennsylvania but Jon and I have been traveling now for over 2 1/2 months. This tends to be my limit. After 2 months out, I grow weary for home, my kitchen and my bed.
So it was quite lovely and comforting to arrive at Jon’s Mom’s Florida home and be treated to another delicious and nurturing home cooked meal.
The rest of the week with them was a combination of home cooking and eating out, but consistently, what I have enjoyed is the lingering at the dinner table, long after the meal is done to just talk. This was part of the experience in Pennsylvania as well.
I’m really ready to be home for a while even though when we first set out in October, we had intended to be gone through February. But returning to Idyllwild for the next month or so is coming at the perfect time and I’m eager for it.
Despite the eagerness, however, I find myself consciously slowing down at the dinner table to savor these moments.
The other lovely thing that occurred this week was that we met up with our friend, Jeff Milone, who we know from Maui, but have now met up with in a few different states. I love this part of our lives. The world is smaller, friends and family are everywhere and we are not limited by our nomadic lifestyle when it comes to staying connected with those we love.
