Food Practice Gift Guide 2011

It’s been a busy food year around these parts.  New state, new home, new kitchen.  There has been quite a bit of travel,  loads of restaurants and a cook book photographed and scheduled to be released next year.

I’ve joined Slow Food Maui, and have begun to finally pull together a plan for a book of my own, along with some major upgrades to this site in the coming year.  All of it is exciting and filled with deep soulful possibilities.

Looking back, there have been a few things that have made life better, more fun filled and inspiring.  The following list of gift ideas is filled with those things.  Buy them.  Share them.  Give them to those you love.  This month is about preparing for a 2012 that is abundant, lush, madly inspired and always, always delicious!  Check it out!

The Organic Family Cookbook – This beauty of a book was created by my dear friend Anni Daulter.  You’ve heard of her work here before, and you’ll be hearing more about her for years to come no doubt, as we just wrapped up work on this little gem.  There is so much I love about this book… the lush imagery, the amazingly creative recipes and all the great tips on how to go green with your family and support local farming.  Its a must have for families of all sizes, that want to eat organic, sustainable and local.

Ice Pop Joy – Another gem by Anni Daulter. This one is a great stocking stuffer. The second the weather warms up here, I’m going on a major ice pop rampage! Honestly, I don’t know of any other cook that is so great at blending ingredients together.

This French Press Coffee Maker – Seriously, once you go french press, you never go back! I’m only able to do decaf these days, but nothing beats a well made hot cup of coffee on rainy mornings. When I made the switch from a drip coffee machine to a french press, it literally changed my relationship with coffee. Everyone should have one.

These last two are big life changing ticket items that have been pivotal for me this year. Danielle Laporte offers up wisdom on business and writing that is filled with soul, authenticity and loads of inspiration.
