For years I’ve hinted that I was writing this book. For years, I’ve put the site on the back burner, started and stopped, sputtered and put it away to pick up the project once more.
I’ve been circling this book for YEARS.
Wait. Did I mention, it’s been Y E A R S?
Truth be told, I was caught in a stunted pattern because there was a component of Food Practice that hadn’t quite fleshed itself out for me. And though I am the creator of Food Practice as a spiritual pursuit of presence and a deeper more connected lived life, the component that was missing for me was… well… the component that was missing *for me*.
We teach what we most need to learn, no?
I’ve been in a life time long meditation and learning about something that I NEEDED to get before it could fully manifest and be shared with all of you.
Here it is:
Like everything else in life, how you interact with food is a living and breathing relationship. What issues exist in that relationship are reflected in all areas of your life. How you feed yourself food, is how you feed yourself all things in your life.
Further and perhaps the most important component of this is that the measure of your own personal self worth and self loving directly impacts every choice you make in your life. Food, how you choose it, buy it, prepare it, and share it is not exempt from this.
In fact, it speaks quite deeply to your own personal relationship with the divine, however you define that as well as your healthy, your weight, and how you participate with the larger food culture of the world.
What makes your relationship with food so important is that it’s not only the very thing that keeps you alive, but also a spiritual metaphor for how you feed your soul.
It is this level of detail that kept me from writing the Food Practice Book. One book is not enough space to really encapsulate all that needs to be said especially when paired with the connection and wisdom of connecting our food relationship to the seasonal cycles around us. (A detail explored deeply in each of the books)
As such, 4 books were born.
- Food Practice Through The Seasons: Winter, The Turning Inward (Drops December 15, 2015)
- Food Practice Through The Seasons: Spring (to be released February 20, 2016)
- Food Practice Through The Seasons: Summer (to be released May 20, 2016)
- Food Practice Through The Seasons: Fall (to be released August 20, 2016)
Four books instead of one thrills me to no end because it keeps us all in dialogue with one another throughout the wheel of the year. Not only that, but it allows me to go into depth with all the things you are able to do in order to embrace a healthy, celebratory and soul nourishing relationship with food.
