Raspberry Banana Smoothie

October 6, 2012 by Elena Rego 3 Comments

Do you remember Strawberry Quick?  Am I aging myself here, or does that stuff still exist?

I remember as a little girl, my mother would give me ice cold milk turned bright pink by this sugary pink powder made to taste like strawberries.  That’s what this smoothie reminds me of, only, it’s made with actual fruit!

As usual, the amounts are flexible and I encourage you to play with it.  This was refreshing, filling and delicious.

Raspberry Banana Smoothie

  • 1 organic apple banana
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup fat free vanilla organic yogurt
  • a splash of organic rice milk
  • 3 ice cubes

Throw in a blender and blend away!  It was enough for two large glasses.

Enjoy!

Sounds yummy! I may not be the most organic savvy, but what is an “apple banana” and where do you find the?

Apple banana is a variety grown here in Hawaii. Apparently there are over 1,200 variety of bananas out there in the world! These are shorter and a bit plumper than the ones we all usually get at the market. They are still sweet, but have a slight tartness to them.
