Where I’ve Been

August 6, 2011 by Elena Rego 7 Comments

Hi.  Its been a while hasn’t it?  Life has been a whirlwind, and coming to this beloved space has seemed quite challenging in light of all the things going on.  I’ve missed you, Food Practice and the heart felt rhythm I feel here when sharing about food, so I thought I would check in and share a bit of what has been going on.

In the last two months Jon and I have visited Maui for our yearly Summer trip, searched for and found a magical home in a tropical paradise.  It was a bit of an odyssey finding this place and by the first week of September we will be official Maui residents!

Not only is this home perfect and beautiful for us, but it will allow me to grow my own food, walk to sacred pools with waterfalls and of course walk to the beach.  I can’t begin to share how grateful and emotional I am about all this.  Its a dream come true and something you will be hearing much more about in the months to come.

While all this was happening, my dear friends Anni Daulter and Alexandra Difurio and I got the news that the book we had all been working on, Sacred Pregnancy:  The Journey Within got picked up by a publisher!  Deadline for this puppy is August 15th, and as you can imagine I have been on a mad dash to get all the photo shoots and photographs done for it.  I am so proud to have been part of this project!  There will be more information on the release of this book and the website that will soon be launched in the coming weeks, so sign up for my newsletter to get the latest!

Of course, because all things lead back to food, at least in this lovely space, Anni Daulter and I are working on a baby food book together.  She is writing the delicious recipes, and I’m doing the photography.  I’m loving this project, because its filled with the vibrant colors and energy of whole foods and its inspiring me towards the next phase of Food Practice.  This book will be great for both babies and families, by making fresh whole food gourmet recipes easy, nutritious and beautiful.

Whew!  That’s it, in a nutshell.  Will be back soon with more.  In the meantime sign up for the RSS feed to make sure you don’t miss the next post and also sign up for my newsletter.  A bunch of updates and resources will be sent out there as the weeks progress.

Hi elena. Thanks for passing on the message. I love anni's books, especially the book on ice pops. Plus I love anything to do with the environment.
